  • Kis 5th Birthday Celebrations

Seven years ago, in a handmade copper pot still, Jon and Sarah Lark produced their first ever liqueurs; Lime and Ginger, and Anisette. Now in 2013, their range includes 2 Gins, 4 Vodkas and 9 liqueurs.

Last week KIS celebrated 5 years of hosting visitors and islanders in their rustic cellar door.

To celebrate this birthday milestone, KIS teed up with local businesses Island Bounce and SweetP Cakes and Cookies to offer customers discounts, free tastings of their liquid magic and an unforgettable experience in their interactive cellar door.

Over the years of international awards, celebrity affiliations, private and corporate events, Jon and Sarah have perfected the art of backyard distilling. Today, Kangaroo Island Spirits is still proudly SA’s only boutique distillery and now retail their product off island both intra and interstate.

KIS products use local fresh ingredients wherever possible. Their Gin is one of the only Australian Gins to use basket distillation and all natural botanicals. Teacher turned owner Sarah says “it’s been a roller-coaster ride getting here, and without our loyal suppliers, growers, friends and staff, this milestone may never have been accomplished so quickly. Jon and I work hard every day, and the commitment and dedication we put into our business becomes so much more worthwhile when we look back and see what we have achieved in such a short space of time”. In addition to their current range, KIS is also working on a unique and special tonic syrup and an Italian favourite, Nocino.

Kangaroo Island Spirits is open for tastings and purchase 6 days a week (closed Tuesdays) 11am-5pm, and all school holidays and public holidays.
